In Other News…

November 30th, 2005

So, what’s new in my life you ask?

Well, lets see here. First, our house is currently undergoing renovations on the main floor. The old tile was ripped out first, which created a huge mess. Everything was coated in dust. Then plywood was put down. Now the new tile is going on in the select areas. Then, on Saturday, the hardwood starts. I will be glad when all is said and done. The new fireplace mantel in the living room is going to be really cool. The shelving units, and mantle I guess, in the family room will be quite nice as well. Once again, it will be nice when all is said and done. The granite counter tops come in January, as they have to come from China. Once it is all done, it will be really cool and fun, but until then, not fun.

Well, the other day it snowed. I don’t really like snow. I hate how it compacts on the driveway when people drive on it. On Sunday, I was able to clear it, which took an hour. But most recently, it snowed when I was at school, so I couldn’t do anything about it. It drives me nuts! I can’t stand it! I don’t really know why, but it does.

Oh and how about that math class. So we just finished the Permutations and Combinations unit, and we wrote the unit test last Friday. I thought I did horrible on that test. When I was writing it, I was going through thinking “I don’t know how to do this!” I thought that for like every question. As it turns out, I actually got 97%. It’s a fluke if you ask me. Plus it helps that he took off a few marks. Everyone did so bad on that test, that he offered a re-test. That re-test was today, and pretty well everyone wrote it. I didn’t, as I knew I couldn’t do better than a 97%. Anywho, thats about all for this post. Sorry about that length, but it was needed.

Ai Info

November 24th, 2005

Okay, so today in the mail I got some information from the Art Institue of Vancouver, for their web design program. I had requested some info from the lady who came and talked to us at school. Anywho, last year I requested some info, and I got this stupid little brochure. I asked her about that this year, and she said that they had some problems last year, and that I should get more information this year. Well, guess what I got this year, another brochure. Great! Anyways, I don’t really want to go there, I was just wondering about their web design program. I was thinking I might get my Computer Science degree, then go there for more training or whatever. Actually, I probably won’t, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have information. Anyways, I get a pamphlet that is as general as it gets. It doesn’t have any specific info or anything. Its just crap.

Coolest Christmas Lights EVER!!

November 21st, 2005

Okay, so these people take the cake on the Christmas Lights. This is so awesome, and it just gets better and better! I wish someone around here would do something like this. Basically, these people took their lights and synced up with some music. I mean its way cooler than that, but in short, thats basically what it is.

I don’t think it would be that hard to do actually. All you would need to do, is have all you lights come to one place. Have that hooked into your computer, and away you go. You could then program the light show, on your computer, then sit back and watch the amazing show. Just like they do in Vegas, except they do it with water.

Anyways, the video is definitly worth checking out. Yes, I know its WMV, buts its so good, that it makes up for that. The music is Wizards in Winter by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

To download it, click here.

Enjoy!!

The End of a Star Wars Marathon…

November 12th, 2005

Well, today we ended our Star Wars Marathon. We started at around noon, and finished at around 7pm. The first two were better than I remember them. The second one has a lot of cheesy scenes in them though. Anyways, it was good, and fun was had by all. I would definitly recommend doing it, it is really fun. So if you have a few extra days, go for it. You won’t regret it. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

The Beginnings of a Star Wars Marathon…

November 11th, 2005

Ok, so today at about 11 am or so, we started our little marathon. It is now 6:48 pm, and we just finished the third episode. We are going to watch the other three tomorrow. It is insane! Who thought of this idea? I don’t know how people can do it. Sit in front of the tv for hours on end that is. Yeah well, it was fun. Anyways, I just thought I let you all know, cause you know, thats what a blog is for.

Interestingness

November 10th, 2005

Well, today at school we had the usual Rememberance Day assembly, except there was a few odd things this year. First of all, they didn’t make us stand for the moment of silence. Isn’t that llike disrespectful or something? Second, they made us stand for God Save the Queen. Since when do we use that song? We are not British. I just thought that it was a little odd, I mean they’ve never, ever done that before, in any of these things. And believe me, I been through quite a few. If anyone would know why we did, that would be greatly appreicated. Yes, I know we are part of the Commonwealth, and the Queen is our head of state, but has that ever made us do it before? No. So now, all of the sudden, we need to? Just odd thats all. No disrespect for the British or anything.

In other news, I am having a Star Wars marathon tomorrow with some friends, all six episodes. Wow, how nerdy. Whatever, thats who I am. Yeah well, I’m going to go watch CSI now. Oh thats a great show, and so is Lost. If you haven’t watched them before, go watch. Yes you. Step away from the computer, I know thats hard to do, but its worth it. Go NOW!!!!!!

New Design

November 10th, 2005

I went ahead and created a new design. So far, I’m liking it. I made the header image in GIMP. I actually made it for my wallpaper (which I am still using it for). Then it gave me inspiration for my blog. I had always wanted to redesign it, as I really didn’t want to use the default theme that anyone who installs WordPress has. If you notice something not working properly, or something, please tell me. I need to know these things. Also, I would appriecate feedback on the design. Well, thats about all for now.

More iPod Mini Adventures

November 5th, 2005

Well, a couple of weeks ago my iPod died. Not quite literally, as it still worked from time to time. What happened was that it would play music for about five minutes, not even that half of the time, then crash and restart. I blamed this calamanity on the battery. Earlier that week I had seen an advertisment in the Best Buy flyer for an Energizer replacement battery for 30 bucks. I bought one and decided to replace the battery. I used the tool that came with my soldering iron, (from another iPod project, read about that catastrophy here.) Anywho, I used that to remove the top and bottom of the iPod. I then used my eyeglass screwdriver to remove the screws in the top. I then just slid it out. I removed the click wheel as well. I was successful in replacing the battery. That was not the hard part. The hard part is putting it all back together. Well, not really, just re connecting the click wheel. It is a pain, or at least it is for me. I still haven’t been able to reconnect it properly. Oh well, it didn’t work anyway. I think I might get me one of those iPod Videos. Now that would be sweet.

View some pictures I took of the event here.
